Please, if you are counting on a pcp to guide you thru repair, change over to an orthopedic surgeon. A gl tear does not respond to "a guided injection" and PT can exasperate pain. Repair w/ a gl transfer is iffy at best, recovery time is lengthy and while a gl transfer will help balance and keep you from a Trendelenburg gate it will not reduce pain. Take time to do a Google search on gl tears, gl transfers and more. There is so much info available out on the Internet. I, too. live your experience, but elected to forgo a gl transfer after consulting w/ four orthopedic surgeons. One surgeon went so far as to say, "If I was you, I would not have this surgery." I understand why, because there is no absolute predictability for a positive repair/recovery. Aging w/ pain is difficult. I walk w/ a cane, and if by chance I drop it there is often someone who will come to my help, pick it up, hand it back and I can say thank you w/ a smile on my face in my heart, why, because I had just given a kind/caring passerby the chance to be rewarded intrinsically.
