I just had an open bilateral nephrectomy (4/27) & living donor transplant (4/29) & my gods it’s the most intense journey. My guts are rearranging themselves, there’s pain from where my PKD kidneys were & the weirdest sensation of my new kidney. I’m feeling frustrated with my lack of freedom but also so amazed that it’s been 2 weeks & I'm able to walk around. There are good days & not great days. It’s also frustrating to only see or hear about transplant patients & hear that the nephrectomy is rare. It’s a bit isolating.

@aniclyaa We are few, but we are mighty:).
I’m Stephanie and I had a nephrectomy and transplant(6 yrs ago) and then second nephrectomy (4yrs ago) for PKD.

It is a bit isolating when the transplant patients are lapping you at the hospital. I remember thinking: what’s wrong with me? Why do I feel like my insides will spill out on the floor if I sneeze?

The good news is it get’s better! And you’re not alone.
