I have Medicare part A & B and Tricare for Life, I have tried numerous times to acquire a PCP in Jacksonville and have been turned away or even not had my phone calls returned. This was in 2005 early in the year I even asked if I could PAY and become a member of the Concierge program but I was told it was not for me, it was for employed individuals only, making me feel I was TOO old to even pay for this. Lastly, when I tried several times to get a PCP, I was told they didn't have enough doctors and there was no waiting list. I was willing to go Concierge at that time it was $15,000.00 a year, I would have paid it. My parents both lived in Michigan and for the last 10-15 years of their lives would have their physicals done in Rochester, MN, would stay for 3 days and get the most comprehensive physicals imaginable, then their PCP at home would initiate their care. I had the upmost respect for MAYO until these last 2 years trying just to get in the door. I did get in but only thru a referral from an Orthopedic Dr., but asking for a PCP and to go there for all my care has not been possible. I was very disappointed......and continue to be.
