Hello, checking in to see how you and fellow Paragangliomas are
doing? It’s mid July and have another follow up appt at MDA Houston in one week. Tram has been actively watching since last Dec. Just finished my last radiation treatment after recent breast cancer surgery. Prayers for you all! Thanks, Suzanne

1 ReactionHello Colleen,
Thank you for checking in with me.
My CT Angiogram last week did show that my paraganglioma tumor on my right neck did increase a small amount since last Dec. 2025 first appointment with MDA Head & Neck Surgery Team. Top to bottom increased by 1 mm, and both width and depth increased by 4 mm. My lead surgeon is still wanting to “watch and wait” until mid Jan. 2025, when he will repeat the CT Scan again. If it increases again, he said surgery will definitely be done.
I asked if the blood plasma tests that are sent to Mayo Labs would be repeated this last week, and he said, no, as they were normal last Dec. which usually signals the tumor is benign, and they “rarely turn into malignant cancer tumors”. Is this a typical plan for a Shamblin III benign carotid body tumor?
I have been having a really sore throat, severe ear ache, fatigue and nausea for a week now. My H&N surgeon thinks it may be side effects from the breast radiation. I was worried these were more paraganglioma symptoms.
Thank you for the note,
Suzanne
