Results of cryotherapy

Posted by dpo6508 @dpo6508, May 6 4:53pm

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer 4 months ago. I am 75 and my PSA had finally got 10. Biopsy showed Gleason 3-4. 10% 4. I chose cryotherapy and had it done 3 months ago. The procedure was fine with no after effects. I had my PSA tested a week ago and it went from 10 to 0.4. Great news. Had a biopsy yesterday to check on the results of the cryotherapy.

Just want people to know this procedure seems to have worked for me.

I wish you the best of luck.

Focal therapy has had mixed results, UCSF found around 50% of people had reoccurrence. You had a very low percentage of cancer, definitely hope you have a long-term result.

Thanks for the comments. I know there is a chance of reoccurrence. But I still have more cryotherapy or radiation as a treatment. I also changed my diet so hopefully I am on the right side of 50%.

Glad to hear you had good results. I am also scheduled for focal cryotherapy in a couple months.
How was your recovery? Catheter for how many days? Any restrictions on activity?

REPLY

I was tired for about a week. Catheter for 5 days. Didn’t like that. Full recovery in about 2 weeks.

During the recovery I had little appetite but it came back. Hope this helps.
