Replies to "Could you share how to obtain a blood test without a doctor's order? Does this depend..."
@tillymack in New York, New Jersey and Rhode Island patients are not allowed to order their own labs.

I'm going to reply to myself after a quick Google search.
People in Maryland can order their own lab tests without a doctor's order, often called direct-to-consumer (DTC) or patient-authorized testing. Companies like Labcorp OnDemand, QuestHealth, and services like Request A Test allow residents to purchase tests directly online and visit local labs for blood draws.
Key Details on Self-Ordered Testing in Maryland:
Legal Standing: A 2019 Maryland law (HB 526) allowed for at-home kits and direct access to tests for conditions such as diabetes, high cholesterol, and STDs.
Process: Individuals choose their tests online, pay for them directly, and receive results via a secure, confidential portal.
Types of Testing: Options range from routine wellness panels to specific, in-depth blood work.
Limitations: While available, these services generally do not accept health insurance, requiring out-of-pocket payment.

I’m not sure if it depends on the state or not. @gently and I believe @mayblin had posted awhile ago that you can order labs through Jason Health labs and I believe they send you to Quest and may be cheaper than ordering through quest or labcorp.
I live in Arizona and cannot order through Jason health labs but can through Sonora Quest.
If you self order, insurance will not cover the cost. It would be self pay.
