Have any of you lost your sense of taste? The water I drink daily does not taste good, the almond yogurt I eat daily is different, and I am struggling to stay on a soft, cold food diet because I can't eat dairy products. My doctor and dentist had not heard of Burning Mouth Syndrome, which occurred 3 times sporadically in the past, and responded well to increased L-Lysine intake. This time is worse and my stomach and esophagus are definitely involved. My throat and esophagus burn this time, and my stomach is in turmoil. When it started, I had terrible headaches in my sinuses, too. The earliest I can see a gastrointestinal specialist is July, so I will be more religious with Pantroprazole use, keep eating mild foods, non-acidic foods (although berries and tomatoes have always been a part of my daily diet), and try to understand how to regulate stressful situations (that really should not be the reason for this - life has been far more stressful in the past). I appreciate all your past posts. My kids want to take me out for a great meal on Mother's Day in a week and I am afraid I won't be able to taste anything.

I just googled if L-lysine can affect taste and it said it can temporarily alter your perception of flavor. The reason I looked it up is because I lost my taste and smell forever (9 years ago) while taking levaquin and flagyl for diverticulitis. Where is that undo button? Hope your normal taste returns soon.

I’ve also have mouth burning for decades. Gets better and worse. Have been on pantoprazole for a decade or so. Helps my GERD but doesn’t eliminate it.
