fala, My primary doctor treated mine. I empathize as it can be extremely painful. I still get flareups occasionally.

What worked for me was Tylenol and Flexeril (Prescription Muscle relaxant) and Bed Buddy Heat Packs (Amazon) that go in the microwave for 2 minutes. Be careful to not get the heat pack to hot or it can burn you. Use a towel as a barrier between the Bed Buddy and your skin. Bed rest. I think I also used Voltaren Gel (Over the counter). This is an NSAID gel....I cannot take NSAIDS orally, but, the gel has never bothered me.

I would think Chiropractors could treat this as well as an Orthopedic Doctor.

Praying for you as I know how painful this can be. Blessings & Prayers....

About the only thing that helps (mentally) is a message chiming in on the same pain. Of course I need to find out what YOU did to see if there is any hope left.
I acquired the unstoppable sciatica pain as a result of a Dr.'s decision to slice the bottom of my foot! He casually said after doing that, that I would have to walk on my heel for a year! I tried to get other doctor's opinions but no luck! Then, I had what turned out to be Peripheral Neuropathy in both feet and I was told that there is NO HELP! Also, I acquired severe sciatica ever since the one year heel walk! Tried hip injections, but most do not work for that pain. Or, if you get lucky a shot might work for 3 months at a time! It's been over 10 years now with this, so that's my experience. Anyone have any good ideas for sciatic pain relief, or a good joke?
