I read an article in The NY Times earlier this week with the results of a large study of the the anti-inflammatory effectiveness of Semaglutide (Ozympic). The article said that this is a major breakthrough for joint health. The article stated that Semaglutide is the best benefit for arthritic knees short of replacement. I started a prescription that I got online, only 3 weeks ago, so it is too early for me to report in my individual result.

I wish you luck. I've been on Semaglutide for many months now and haven't noticed any change in my knee swelling or pain level. I went on the Semaglutide program for weight loss to reduce the pressure on my knee. The good news is that I've lost weight. It's a shame that we have to experiment on our own with little or no assistance from our wonderful most expensive medical community in the world.

I have read through all of you comments and I am so familiar with the knee buckling. The nature knee band pain, the sit and stand exercises cause and it's like you going backwards instead of gradual progress. TKR almost 1 year ago, February 2024. After my first follow up I seemed to be doing OK. After my second check my pain had increase. My surgeon took fluid from my knee to test for infection it was negative. Stull in pain after my third follow up my surgeon gave me a shot of cortisone shot in my knee, negative still in pain, now with the wicked band that get stiffer and painful when I am trying to do my walking exercises. I had to halt this. Next follow up I was prescribe to get pain block. Which I believe was also a temporary fix.. I was not able to do this because insurance doesn't pay for this. Now let me say my ROM is at 110, so I am assuming that this tells my doctor, she is doing well. When I am saying I am in great pain. My next follow up on January 24, I was given prednisone to take by the mouth. My pain slowed on the 24th to the 27th. I am back to being in pain, perhaps more than I was before TKR. If the specialist can't figure out what is happening to me, then where do I go to feel some sense of normalcy???

I had a TKR, right knee, 10 weeks ago today. PT has been very helpful and my ROM is now around 132 and there is only slight pain in the joint at this point. My biggest concern is that when I walk, or wiggle my lower leg side-to-side, I feel the parts inside "moving around"... No popping sound or anything, maybe a slight "clicking" feel on the Hamstring machine, but the MOVEMENT of the parts inside the new joint bothers me.

Will it always be like this? I have this assumption that after some amount of strengthening and conditioning, the muscles of the joint will hold every thing together in a more compressed fashion and that "moving" sensation will largely disappear.

Anyone have some thoughts on this?
TIA.

@gskern I just wanted to say that is amazing range of motion good for you . I never got that kind of range. But i Am always aware this is not my natural knee. It does feel different takes time to get use to .

I am six months out. I have not had the loose feeling. For most of the time my surgical knee (right) felt like a round grapefruit to the touch. My natural knee has bones that can be touched and felt. Somewhere close to current the roundness went away and I can now feel the parts of my new knee just like my natural knee.

I had no pain after my surgery and my initial ROM was 122. The most I got it to was 130 so you have beat me. I have recently restarted PT to try to improve my horrible balance and to try to get my ROM a little higher.

You are a tad over two months out. That is still very recent. Have you been doing PT? how many sessions and are you still doing it? IMO PT is essential to a successful recovery. What does your therapist say?

Somewhere between one week and 2+ months you likely had an update appointment with your surgeon. What did she say?

I had a TKR on Sept 4, 2024. I was diagnosed with Patellar Clunk Syndrome and had scar tissue removed December 2024. Now it's back and I'm scheduled for another scar tissue removal in June. Has anyone else had this problem?

Bleeding under bandage 4th day after TKR. Please comment . Should I go to Emergency or see Dr. 2 days later. Resting with my knee up on high wedge. Using compression bandage and applyong ice. No pain. Only taking tylenol arthritis and celebrex 200. Supposed to take ASA 325 mg. Stopped this and will stop celebrex 200mg. Not dizzy or weak, just bleeds a little when standing or walking . What to do? Please advise.
