Hi, I imagine a dysarthria diagnosis brought added stress; did they mention what type of dysarthria he has? One of the very important aspects with dysarthria, would be knowing what type it is so the Speech Pathologist can make a plan for how to address it. I did not see your husband’s history in the posts; did he have thyroid cancer? A thyroidectomy or partial thyroidectomy? Was their nerve involvement? How is the speech problem presenting? (slurring, soft or raspy voice, etc) Did the SLP have a plan for remediation? Therapy is often helpful, however not all SLP’s are the same! It would be best to find an SLP who specializes in the type of dysarthria your husband has (not just the occasional patient with dysarthria). I hope your husband was able to start therapy and is making progress. Good luck!

Thanks so much for your help. He does see a speech therapist. His speechbis
slow and floppy. They wondered if he has Parkinson Dx but no other
symptoms. Alcohol makes him slur his words worse so they think it is
neurological
