I’m sorry to hear that you had difficulties receiving an appointment at Mayo Clinic. Unfortunately, because Mayo Clinic has more requests for appointments than available openings in certain specialty areas, they cannot fulfill all requests.

When the experts review your records and medical history, they also closely consider the care that you are currently receiving. Availability depends on the nature and urgency of the problem and Mayo Clinic's ability to help (as determined by a Mayo Clinic doctor).

Did you self-refer or did your provider refer you? If you self-referred and want to continue trying to get an appointment at Mayo, discuss a referral with your provider. Does not guarantee an appointment, but it might be worth trying.

Do you live close to a University Medical Center, which might be another option for a 2nd opinion?

Hi @roch. May I further add to Lauries spot on helpful comment. Most healthcare systems medical records are pivotal and following can cause auto auth denial🙃
Typos or completely wrong context of symptom or diagnosis, especially in this age of recorded/voice recognition/AI…. Requires ACCEPTED justifying records attached to auth requests, which may not be provided in insurers accepted format or unfortunately sometimes not attached at all.
Further sometimes misunderstanding that a diagnosis or brief explanation is enough and auto denied🙃.
So, helpful if your healthcare system has a Patient Advocate that can assist you with the release of information process to review and correct your records and if your physical challenges need further assistance, ie voice recognition not compatible/brain processing issues… then hopefully there is a Medical Social Worker to assure your success! Hope this helps on your quickest healing journey🌈
