Seizure during sleep?

Last December my wife called 911 in the middle of the night when I was thrashing around, calling out, but not conscious. Lots of diagnostic tests were inconclusive. Six months later, I had a similar episode. This time, testing pointed to seizures and I was hospitalized for four days. I have been medicating since with lacosamide and gabapentin. I've had no episodes since the June hospitalization. Testing has not revealed a root cause for the seizures. My neurologist says this is the case with about 50% of people with seizures. So far, the meds are doing their job but I guess I could have a breakthrough seizure anytime.

What a great milestone you've achieved, I'm so happy for you!
Consciousness is indeed one of the key differences between a tonic-clonic seizure and a PNES episode: during a true tonic-clonic, consciousness is lost, whereas in PNES it's typically preserved.
I know many people who have been seizure-free for years through medication alone — so savor this present moment!
