I agree with the other responses here. He may have something other than sleep apnea, or he needs a different machine. If he’s not using it, or taking the mask off, those issues also need to be addressed. I thought about narcolepsy also.
I suggest he see the sleep dr and discuss all the possibilities.

@nanamillie Either apnea is not his problem after all, or his treatment regimen via the PAP is not the correct therapy for him (including that he doesn't actually use the machine or removes the mask partway through the night as an annoyance, something he might not be aware of....it happens). He needs more attention with the CPAP.
