@loribmt I don't think I would mind explaining it umpteen times to different docs if they paid attention. Had coffee Thurs with a friend who is in charge of her sister's care with many docs involved. She also noted the "silo effect" of specialists who fail to adjust treatment plans around other pre-existings. Hopefully the surgeon will pay better attention.

And I'm kinda glad my platelets were extra high on the labs they ordered so they can see that, oh, hey, somethin's up with this lady's platelets, maybe we better check it out.

Meantime, thanks for the support. I am enjoying my Graham Greene book and the cats like their extra attention. This is Frannie, my son's cat who is staying with us, possibly permanently. She has a little beauty mark like Honey West from the old TV show.

@nohrt4me

She's gorgeous!

@nohrt4me Ohhhh I want to wiggle my fingers in Frannie’s tummy fur!!! At great risk to my life, I’m sure! LOL. She’s gorgeous! I’d vote for ‘possibly permanently’ if you have a choice! Frannie looks like a sweetie!

I never heard the term Silo Effect but that is an excellent description of the myopic treatment some of us receive! I have to say, being a patient at Mayo was a real eye opener to collaborative medicine. During a period in my recovery, I’d had an issue on my spinal cord. The afternoon I was admitted to the hospital, within an hour, I had 3 specialists just walk into my room at the same time!! BMT doctor, neurological pathologist and a liver specialist. They planned a strategy to get me walking again, while protecting my liver and not killing me. LOL. The brain power in that room was palpable. But NO chest thumping. They worked together! It was surreal! Spoiled me for care in the outside world.

Which Graham Greene book are you reading? That’s a forgotten name for me! I know I’ve got some of his books buried in the library! I’ll have to take off the layer of protective covering that other people might call dust and start re-reading!

I hope you’ve been properly distracted this weekend! Did you have the steak?
