I have read that more than 50% of men never recover their testosterone after using Lupron and a 3-month shot typically lasts for 9 to 12 months of serious side effects. This has been my experience, yet I have friends who had essentially no side effects and others who have had the cancer spread. Everyone seems to be different.

I don’t know where you read this, but it is dead wrong. Can you quote this article? Or any limitations on the people they evaluated listed.
It is highly likely that testosterone levels will recover to normal after a short, three-month course of Lupron. While recovery time varies, typically 76% to over 90% of men see their testosterone return to normal levels (above 300 ng/dL) within 6 to 24 months after stopping. Permanent, irreversible suppression is rare with only three months of treatment, particularly in men younger than 65.
