Does any neurologist prescribe Alpha Lipoic Acid?
R-ALA features very heavily on this forum as a potential remedy for peripheral neuropathy. Does any Neurologist actually prescribe it.

@artemis1886 Again, I am very sorry to hear of your kidney damage. Modern medicine is on balance a great success but the unintentional damage caused is undeniable.
@dorob Before you stopped taking it, did it relieve the neuropathy? Did you take the R form of ALA? I ask because 1800mg of R ALA is the highest I have heard of. But if it was the so-called racemic mixture containing the R form and S form, then the effective dose of R ALA was 900mg. Thanks. Lastly, have you found relief from anything else?
Thank you for your comment. My underlying cause of PN is caused by a cervical neck issue of which I am perusing (not willingly, mind you, if I had another option!) a third cervical neck surgery. The medical history behind why this third one would be a labor of love to share with y’all. But my response to adding caution to using the ALA was for those who have acid reflux disease in addition to the PN. Many years ago I had been dxd with Barrett’s esophagitis which has been well controlled. I tried the ALA, given that, but stopped because of the gastric distress. The several months of increasing dosage did not affect the PN.
I have a DVT in addition to PN. Prescribed Eliquis, blood thinner for the rest of my life. I experience pain from both. it's hard to distinguish which problem is the source of the pain. I try stretching exercises which seems to help sometimes and other times it seems to make it worse. Does anyone else have this issue? If so, what has helped?
My PN is not Diabetes related. It's genetic.
