@larry29 Back pain can be so disabling - When the spine specialists tell you the spine is OK, maybe it is time to "think outside the box." Is it possible you are having nerve pain at the spine, but the cause is somewhere else? This is called "referred pain." I used to get really bad pain in my lower spine, treated with steroids, PT, anti-inflammatory meds - nothing worked. One day, my primary said "Let's take some hip x-rays" and that same day I was referred to an orthopedic surgeon - it was my very badly deteriorated hips! Yet they did not hurt, just my spine.
Now I'm saying this is your problem at all, just that when the "usual" treatments fail, it may be time for a new approach. It could be that the problem is in your shoulders, scapula, etc, and the pain is irritating the nerves, but being felt in your spine.
Are you seeing a neurologist, neurosurgeon or an orthopedist?

@sueinmn Thanks for the reply I appreciate the info. Some of the X-rays and MRI’s have shown some deterioration in my right hip but they say it isn’t bad enough to fool with. I have had everything from head to toe scanned in some way. I’ve even been checked for cancer. My rheumatologist has been working very diligently to find the cause but is at a loss at this point. She has mentioned possibly checking into seeing someone at Mayo Clinic which I’m not opposed to doing but I’m just so disappointed by constantly hearing “everything is normal” from everyone I’ve been to. I’m just so depressed from all this.
