Stopping Tagrisso after 3 years

Hello, I have also joined the “ending of three years of Tagrisso treatment” club……perhaps we should all get badges from Astra-Zeneca accordingly (btw……a huge thanks to all those talented people at A-Z for developing this miracle drug!).

I had RLL lobectomy in Nov/2022 for an exon 19 deletion adenocarcinoma (staged 2a) followed by 3 cycles of chemotherapy followed by the 3 years of Tagrisso. I’ve been off Tagrisso for 1.5 months now and happy to report that the minor side effects have now dissipated and I’m feeling fine!

Now comes the surveillance phase (probably CT scans and blood work every 6 months to start). Along with this will be the lingering question in the back of our minds as to whether the cancer will return now that Tagrisso has been stopped. For me I’m very confident in the oversight provided by my Mayo oncology team and will look forward to those CT exams to confirm that I continue to be diseases free.

Wishing good outcomes to everyone else in the 3-year club!

@sglaza Thanks so much for sharing this good news. Agree 100% about Astra Zeneca. Hope they can lower the price soon so more can afford this clearly life saving drug.
