I don't see a section for someone who has issues after half of thyroid out due to a large nodule. Before it was discovered I was having many neurology issues with tingling, could not swallow properly, spider crawling on face, extreme fatigue, could not smell or taste. Than removed half of thyroid and a couple weeks later got back taste, smell, and swallow much better. Except now I have much higher TSH and t4 levels and excessive painful pins and needles and muscles and joints pains all over body, mainly hands and feet and legs. But whole body. I have went my primary and three endocrinologist and all they say is that My Labs are normal. It's very exhausting mind and body and emotional. My wife is heartbroken and is very concerned and I wearing down. If there is anyone out there that has any advice please help. Thanks there is more to My story before with many MRI cat scans spinal tap and multiple blood tests.

Hello @weekend1, I can't begin to imagine how difficult it is for both you and your wife dealing with all of the side effects and complications of having a thyroidectomy to remove half of your thyroid. There are many different discussions on thyroid surgery that you may find helpful. Here is a search of Connect that lists the different discussions - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/search/discussions/.

@koh mentioned having a partial thyroidectomy in another discussion and may have some information or suggestions to share with you. Are you on any medications to help with the pain and other symptoms following your surgery?

@weekend1

I take Gabapentin for the Tingling in my feet. What we have does not show up on tests.
