I am 72 years old and have dealt with heart palpitations on and off my whole life. Caffeine has always been a trigger for me, so if you drink it, you need to stop and see if it helps. Also, several doctors have recommended I take magnesium around 400-600 mg a day but it can cause diarrhea in some people so you need to start a lower dose to see how it affects you. Some forms like magnesium citrate are more prone to cause diarrhea. Magnesium glycinate is a good form to take. You might ask your cardiologist if it is OK to take it. My cardiologist was one of the doctors who recommended it. I also have an anxiety disorder although it didn’t begin until 5 years ago, but anxiety can definitely cause heart palpitations. I know they are very unsettling and there are medications which can control them if they become problematic. I’m sure your cardiologist will work with you to figure all this out. Let me know if you have any questions.
@1oldsoul thank you for sharing your story with me I appreciate that. I just wanna figure out how to reduce them on a daily basis, so I don’t have to think about them constantly. I was thinking starting magnesium but I don’t know if they would work.. the cardiologist said there where no abnormal rhythms found, but it feels my rhythm feels weird so I don’t know.
