I keep having burping

Posted by naoshapiro1 @naoshapiro1, 1 day ago

I got an esophagectomy in June 2019 and for the last almost year and a half. I've been using omeprazole twice a day and Pepcid and I took my normal bone scan last week and it showed I lost 8% of my bones so I'm thinking of using an infusion of RECLAST but I can't seem to get rid of this burping and I have a bad case ibs

naoshapiro1,
Hi have been taking omeseprilole twice a day now for quite a while. It has stopped all acid reflux but I do have more gas so I've also tried taking gasex but I don't see much difference. I had chemo and radiation for cancer mass found in lower esophagus several years ago. The tumor is gone and scans have been clear. But I still have Barretts and the docs keep doing endoscopies and ablations about every 3 months. I have one coming up next week. Let me know if I can answer any questions?

@dsh33782 I was treated for gas where the indication was that I had SIBO then I took Augmentin for 14 days and I no longer have gas. I had an esophagectomy and I assume you had one too, so I don't know how you could have Barrett's esophagus since within an esophagectomy they pull the stomach up. Perhaps you didn't have an esophagectomy my problem is that the omeprazole takes away bone in apparently the bone building medicine can cause bone cancer strokes and heart attack so I'm not going to take bone building medicine. I'll probably take reclast and then go to a PT place and work on building bone

@naoshapiro1
No I did not have esophagectomy so I still have complete esophagus. Let us know how the reclast and PT work out?

Even when you have an esophagectomy you can still develop Barrett's in the remaining portion of your original esophagus that your newly fashioned stomaphagus is attached to... that's why they keep an eye on things during endoscopies.

thanks gary, luckily I had an endoscopy and no barrets found. Sorry about yours if you have it. I try to eat 4 smal meals per day am 99% vegan but was eating one egg white and 1.25 ounces chicken per day, just dropped the egg white as it is too much volume. That is the meal I eat a small amount of oatmeal 25 grams dry and soaked, with 9 grams of pecan and 5 grams of dried mullberry for the vitamin c.
