Good news: One Year Follow Up for grade 3 endometrial adenocarcinoma

I can’t believe it has been one year since I began radiation. I just had my CT scan, and all clear! I have had access to my surgical report and have revisited my pathology report, and understand things more completely now. It was grade 3 endometrial adenocarcinoma, and it actually had been in my left pelvic lymph nodes, making it a stage 3 cancer. The stage was reduced to 1A when the POLe mutation was identified. I am still trying to wrap my head around how this mutation can both cause the initial cancer, but then turn around and protect my from recurrence. I am so grateful, and have a bit of guilt about why I got so lucky when others have not. My blood work is still off - low WBC, RBC, hemoglobin and hematocrit, but thorough blood work has not identified any problems, so it is busily still some bone marrow suppression from the radiation. If anything, cancer has made me sweat the small stuff less, and just embrace opportunities for activity, adventure and friendship. While I’m not 100% back to normal, I am darn close! Wishing everyone healing and happiness.

@dlgbb This is such good news! Thank you for sharing especially with the photo with your sweet puppies.

Thank you also for explaining your surgery report and the pathology. This is very significant information. Was your oncologist helpful in explaining all this to you?

I recall that you were puzzled in the past about some of your blood work and ongoing fatigue. Is that correct?

What activities are you up to? Has Spring arrived where you are?
