Hey. I too have both MTHFR as well as Factor V Leiden. I found out after having my youngest son premature. My placenta was clotted and my son was born with arterial clots in his right arm. I am heterozygous for each. But this diagnosis has given me so much clarity to familial issues. All of the women in my mom’s family died in their 40-50s from clots / strokes. All of my mom’s brothers have had issues with clots. I suffer from major depression and anxiety ( MTHFR can cause ). 2 of my 3 kids have both mutations. 1 nephew has only MTHFR. I have been through some of the same BS as you with hospitals and Drs. To make it worse, I work in healthcare and they still patronize me and send me on my way. I’ve learned to be “that person” and stand up for myself …… most days. Although a lot of times it feels hopeless. I have tried to educate my kids the best I can so they can advocate for themselves

For now, until we find a well-informed hematologist who can guide us properly, the best thing we can do is educate ourselves—especially on how to reduce the risk of blood clots, particularly those affecting the brain.

With that in mind, I’ve written about Factor V Leiden and related conditions that should be monitored regularly.
