Dercum’s Disease: Looking to connect with others

Posted by vowelmistress @vowelmistress, Jun 13, 2022

I am having pain in my feet and ankles. I do have dercum’s and I am wondering if the lipomas in my legs can cause this? Also are there any surgeons in the Eau Claire area who specialize in liposuction for dercum’s patients?

Hi all! Any recent current activity here?
I’ve been recently diagnosed with Dercum’s… many painful Lipoma, but surgeons told me too deep or other too much tissue involved.
Mayo Jax Dermatology called me and said we have so specialist for this disease, try Minn..
Anybody have any luck with a specialist? Any help appreciated!!
Thanks

I went to Mayo in Rochester a few weeks ago for painful lipomas. Two dermatologists had no recommendation and did not mention Dercum's Disease. They were quite unhelpful. I later found out about Dercum's online, and it matches exactly my symptoms. I have been working with an occupational therapist to stimulate lymphatic drainage in the areas of the lipomas, and I've had a significant reduction in pain (sometimes no pain at all). She recommends using a dry brush (brand Eco Brush) daily to stimulate lympathic drainage and that's working well. I've had two surgeries, and that has only served to create scar tissue that impedes drainage. I feel for you.

@leahrogne - that saves me reaching out to Rochester… Jacksonville told
me they had nobody that deals with the disease either. I’ll pass your therapists trick along to see if it helps out, thanks, stay strong 💪
