What is safest drug to use after Evenity treatment?

Posted by swsunflower @swsunflower, Jan 31 11:51am

Have taken 2 Evenity treatments. It's going okay so far. My doctor is suggesting Prolia to maintain. I've seen a lot of negative about Prolia. Is there a safer alternative?

@kpickowitz - Thanks for the quick reply. I attend neighborhood Gentle Yoga classes and do exercises at home. Praying for good results at the end of the 12 months.

kpickowitz: My weekly exercise schedule has been yoga 2x wk, TaiChi 1x/wk plus walking daily ( including stairs as I live in 4 story bldg). Are you recommending more work in the gym?

@dbamos1945 @deb541 Most kinds of exercise help prevent fractures by helping preventing falls. Unfortunately research shows that for exercise to directly build bone requires heavy-for-you resistance and impact exercise.

Below is a fun video with the top researcher in this area, Dr. Belinda Beck, talking with OsteoBoston. Her LIFTMOR study included a control group that did gentle exercise including light weights; but that group overall lost bone while the gals who were lifting heavier weights and jumping gained bone density.

Great videos exist from lots of experts such as Lisa Moore, doctor of Physical Therapy on how to slowly build up to resistance & impact exercises (eg heel drops). Lots of discussion & links elsewhere on this forum also.
