Hi Sonia, my name is Rachael. Yes, you are on the journey. My TBI occurred last September, and I am still on the journey. For me, the most frustrating thing is that there is not a roadmap. I have had to learn to give myself grace, be thankful for signs of progress, and not beat myself up when things do not improve quickly or when they change. My experience is the journey is a very winding road. I had to learn, I have no control over it.
Find yourself a knowledgeable treatment team, and take advantage of all the different treatment modalities available. Things like physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy ( I call it cognitive therapy), and even psychotherapy. You are your own best advocate.
I am fortunate to have two close friends that have some time available during their busy week to listen. They let me talk about my day to day changes. They are my best cheerleaders. They also pull me off the ceiling when I freak out.
I wish you all the best as you greet each new day. My neurologist told me from the very beginning that I will have good days and I will have bad days. It's an adventure!
Take care.
@3rdrg Thank you Rachel…🙏🏼
