Best Calcium Supplement?
Which is the best type of calcium supplement? I've been taking calcium citrate (Citracal) which I understand is more easily absorbed than calcium carbonate (Caltrate). Most recently I've been hearing about calcium phosphate as an alternative. I like that it is available as a powder and may be less constipating than calcium citrate but it seems that is calcium phosphate is more for pets. Your thoughts?

I have been reading that MK-4 is a metabolite of MK-7, so I am only supplementing MK-7. Also adding aged cheeses like Gouda and Munster to get the K2 from whole foods (watch the sat fat though! More Calcium from foods and the balance from Algae Cal or Garden of life Raw marine based calcium,
Weights, Protein, collagen.
@loplady You are correct. On Amazon, the label for Osteo-K does show two servings per day, each at 22,500 mcg for a total daily dose of 45,000mcg.
Price wise, the Osteo K supplements are very expensive. A months supply costs $65.95. By comparison, the brand Life Extension Mega Vitamin K has one capsule a day of 45,000 mcg Vitamin K MK-4 priced at $24.03. So buying a supplement with split dosing costs more than twice as much.
I read an article that says it's not necessary to split the dosing of MK-4: "MK4's serum half-life is roughly two hours — and that rapid disappearance from blood isn't a weakness. It's the opposite. Your body pulls MK4 straight into the brain, bone, kidney, pancreas, and reproductive organs. What leaves the bloodstream fastest may be doing the most work. If a nutrient's invisible in a blood draw, it's often because it already reached where it needs to be."

@daisy17
Hi there,
I wonder if you can possibly share the info you were referring to.
Many thanks in advance
@daisy17 Hi Thank you. Sounds like a really good option particularly when traveling and less likely to take a pill until I get settled. But would need to take 2/day to get just 1000 mg, so yes very expensive.
@gve Can you clarify what info you are asking about? Is it about taking both MK-4 and MK-7 together?
I take NEW CHAPTER Bone Strength, calcium from algae. They are slim tabs, swallow easily. I take 4 per day. (their dosage is 3 per day = Ca 905 mg, plus D3, K1, K2, Mg, Strontium, Vanadium)
@cphip Seen recommends only one chew a day. So I supplement with 1/2 dose of my other calcium pills, New Chapter Bone Strength. All supplements are not cheap, kind of frustrating.
@gve If you are asking for articles about Vitamin K and the doses I take, here are some:

@daisy17 Thanks, I would not buy Osteo K because of the price but have found some other options online. I'm going to give this a try. I think I'll start at 30mg and move up to 45 once I see that I have no issues.
