Diarrhea after stopping anastrozole

How long does diarrhea continue after stopping anastrozole? My oncologist is having me take a 2-week break before starting me on letrozole. After 1 week, the diarrhea shows no signs of letting up and I'm still living on Imodium. I can't take tamoxifen due to heart issues.

Hello @lak1967 I did not have an issue when stopping anastrazole after an extended time. That being said, I would be very concerned if I had diarrhea requiring Imodium for two weeks straight.
Beyond the implications of dehydration and deficiencies, there is also a consideration that this is something else now.
Anytime it lasts more than a week, I would contact my doctor, they can make sure this isn’t a bigger problem than simple diarrhea.
Do you have a primary doctor you can contact easily?

@auntieoakley, thanks for your comments and concerns. I'm doing my best to stay hydrated!! I've been working with my onco's office on this issue. It's been going on for many weeks and is why they had me stop the anastrozole. It's a horrible side effect. My PCP just refers me back to my onco, lol.
I've read on "Dr. Google" that the side effects from anastrozole can last for weeks or even months after stopping it. I just wondered if anyone else had the same problem.
