D-Mannose for frequent bladder infections

Posted by fuzzball @fuzzball, Aug 28, 2020

D-Mannose capsule with vitamin C gives me pains in stomach and loose stools. I need name of USP approved maker of the powder form so that I can break the dosage down to several times a day so that I don’t get this side effect. Also where can I buy it because can’t find Pharmacies or GNC that carry D-Mannose, I had to order on line the first time I tried it and don’t know if it’s a reliable company.

Sorry. New to this. I was taking tablets by WCM Naturals. Researched and ordered the powder form made from birch trees by Waterfalls. My culture identified proteus mirelis as the cause. Does the D Mannose still work for that bacteria also?

D-Mannose has almost no flavour other than it adds a slight sweet taste to the water. Because D-mannose is a simple sugar, I would stick to diluting it in 1/2 cup of water rather than adding another sugar in juice form. Remember to drink as much water as you can throughout the day, so that you can flush the E-Coli bacteria out of your bladder.

I buy my NOW brand D-Mannose from Amazon. I take 1 tsp per day mixed with water - I take it after dinner. There are no other additives such as Vit. C, etc. It is cheaper to order online thru Amazon as opposed to buying at any store.

Swanson sells D- Mannose in pill AND powdered form. I doubled my dose of pills with no improvement so it sounds like I should get the powder instead. I also agree about the cranberry -- even straight cranberry pills were no help.

@pegpal How can you get the powder for and does it taste awful?

Has anyone tried the Complete Natural Products d-mannose? I just purchased some from Amazon. I’m hoping it’s as good. It’s says it’s 100% pure and 2000 mg per serving. I’m feeling a UTi coming on.

I’ve been taking CranEaze capsules for over a year and continue to have recurrent UTI’s. Since Oct 2024 to now 9 UTI’s all Ecoli. I hesitate to increase the dosage not knowing the safety of continued use.
Tried Methenamine two times a day for four weeks ending with PH of 7. I stopped taking it.
Have had CT scan of Abdomen and Pelvis with contrast and Ultrasound. Also had cystoscopy
All normal findings.
While many people have diarrhea from antibiotics I developed constipation and have been battling that for over a year. On and off MiraLAX but now trying every day half dose which is not working. Will be increasing dose but each time I do I get diarrhea followed by no bowel movements so after two days I try MiraLAX again.
I recently started a probiotic by Jarrow called fem dophilus.
Out of all the reasons for UTI’s I only have the age factor.i was referred to Infectious Disease and treated with Levofloxacin.
That held me for two months. Now waiting for urine culture results due to newly developed symptoms. I don’t know what to try next.
