@hraka13 I did have a female doc who referred me to a rheumatologist. I have had mostly female doctors but I had one who was a gynaecologist and I overheard her telling a colleague that it was all in my head. I complained about her to the College of Physicians. Others told me she was a good doctor but she wasn’t for me. My specialists have mostly been male doctors and most have been kind and helpful.

@coryl when I was navigating through specialist after specialist looking for a diagnosis and treatment I was referred to an older male rheumatologist. This was about 18 years ago. He told me that what was wrong with me was called, in his day “the hysterics” and gave impression this was a woman thing. I left there in shock. I wish I had complained but I was too sick to do anything about it. Fortunately I did get help and support from other doctors. Mostly those with fibromyalgia really know what it’s like.
