Problems (Blood) after having Foley catheter changed: Ideas?

Foley changed 3 days ago, have had alot of blood since, but no pain. No fever or sign of infection.....New nurse, never had this before. Iv had a few infections, but had severe pain.

Hi @charlee1, it can be alarming to see blood after a catheter change.

Small blood clots are normal and usually go away on their own. Large clots, however, can block your catheter and cause urine to leak or your bladder to spasm. If you see any blood in your urine, drink more fluids until your urine clears up.

Has the blood since cleared? How are you doing?

@patrickdower, have you spoken with your urologist about this?

If you're still getting them, take photos.
It really helps the urologist/continence nurse understand the extent of the problem.
Seeing the size & colour of the spare bits tells them a lot.
