Fearing risks of Prolia
I am going to my pcp tomorrow morning to discuss whether to start Prolia or Jubbonti after getting dexa scan results showing my osteoporosis has gotten worse. I took Ralaxifene for the last 2 years and it didn't help. I have researched these 2 drugs and have read a ton of bad side effects from patient reviews and I am really nervous to try! After taking Boniva just one time in the past, I felt like I was ran over by a truck for 3 days and I refused to ever take a biphosphate again. I am thinking about not starting a new drug and exercising more. Any input is much appreciated!

1 ReactionI had been taking allendronate for two years with no change in my scores. I had my second shot of Prolia in December and hoping it will be effective. I have severe osteoporosis.
My first cousin was diagnosed with same degree of osteoporosis but refused the drugs. Instead, she practiced
daily Pilates on the Pilates reformer machine and watches her diet. Doing so reversed
(Improved) her scores quite a bit
I’m physically unable to do what she does, but really impressed (as is her doctor) that it works
I think drs believe, and understandably so, that most people will not stick to an exercise routine
@irishnanny3
Have you and your doctor discussed anabolic osteoporosis drugs for bone building as well as sequencing of drugs......very important. Are you doing your own research so that you can be a partner in your care?

I did not find anything pertaining to Prolia and Dental, but it was interesting reading more about Prolia.
I paused my injection when I was in this situation last year, but it seems not to be discussed much anymore.
Thanks again for responding.

Hi, Retired RN here,
I have been on Prolia for just about 5 years with no side effects. I am now on
Jubbonti, but I am concerned. I had a molar puled a couple of months ago with a bone fragment left. My dentist has referred me to a denturist to have a partial plate put in. At 79 yrs of age I am hesitant but she says I will have more issues if I don't because of the wear and tear on the molar on opposite side, chances of it breaking down. I will go for the consultation to see what my options are. My dentist did say you have to take the partia out at night to keep the gums healthy. I already have receding gums and don't want further problems. Wish me luck. I'm open to suggestions please.
