Anyone else have a Loop Ostomy?
I was recently informed my Ostomy was a Loop Ostomy. Has anyone who had the same surgery had any problems dealing with it and if you have any tips etc. I would really appreciate hearing from you.
Thank you

I have one. The second and lower stoma is hidden under the skin basically and so it doesn't have any role to play on a daily basis. I can get at it if I need to.
The main thing the lower bowel portion does...and I could sure do without it!!!...is to manufacture enormous amounts of mucus. Most don't. I still have the problem underlying the entire situation, that is Paradoxical Anal Syndrome, when it's time to have a bowel movement my sphincters close tight instead of opening up and allowing the poop out. . So I now have mucus which can't come out properly and have to resort to enemas to get rid of it. It hardens inside of my colon and becomes uncomfortable...quelle surprise you say!..and the enemas are between one week (7 days) and 41 days. Haven't come across anyone with that severe a problem. Sorry for TMI.
I have my stomach and that is fine but the other half of my cut intestine is constantly hanging outside my body and is a bit long. Icing it to shrink it helps some but it causes a problem at times.
@piki how do you get the 2nd stoma back under the skin when it won’t shrink up enough?
@pidge32 In my case this is a non-issue. The second stoma has basically never been out from under the skin and is completely covered by the flange. I did say I could get at it if I needed to...the surgeon got at it last year when he was insistent upon showing me how I could do an enema from that point...I never have done so.
Thank you
