Natural treatment for Osteoporosis
I am interested in knowing of any alternative treatments for osteoporosis. I took 1 dose of Prolia, had a major reaction that resulted in an atypical femur fracture within 3mos. Recovering from an Intramedullary femur nailing surgery at the present time. The Rheumatologist is suggesting Evenity followed by Reclast for treatment now. I am not ready to say "yes" to all the side effects.

Would you please tell us more about your history, bone scans, fractures outside the prolia fracture and if you have seen a good endocrinologist to rule out other causes of osteoporosis.
I am a strontium citrate user and a BHRT user. I now have normal bone readings as per dexa and normal bone quality as per TBS. No fractures, no side effects.
I made the decision to use strontium citrate after a reaction to a bone medication which was not as severe as yours. I did lots of research, remembered something my endocrinologist had told me and made a decision to try strontium citrate.
My endocrinologist told me to change nothing.
There are supplements you can take, here is what I take:
Vitamin K: This helps direct calcium to your bones. I take 180mcg Vitamin K2 with my calcium. That level is based on this article, and others that I've read: https://drkumardiscovery.com/posts/vitamin-k2-mk7-bone-strength-review/
I read that the "MenaQ7" form of vitamin K is considered superior because "they contain a highly purified form of vitamin K2 as MK-7, which has been clinically validated for its benefits in supporting bone and cardiovascular health. Their production process ensures a high concentration of the bioactive all-trans form, making them more effective than other vitamin K2 supplements." The brand I found on Amazon with this form is TrueVantage. This is in a capsule form with powdered contents and is made in the U.S. and 3rd party tested.
Collagen as Fortibone: I take a daily powdered collagen supplement that contains Fortibone, which has been shown in studies to help bones. The cheapest brand I found on Amazon is AlgaeCal brand. It's cheaper if you buy two or three at a time. I make a smoothie with it along with some juice, banana, and other fruit. It also contains 11 grams of protein per serving.
Protein powder: Protein is important for your bones so you might want to consider a supplement if your diet doesn't contain enough.
Prunes: Studies have shown that eating 6 prunes a day can help bones.
Magnesium is also important, so I take 200-300mg of magnesium glycinate/day.
Of course, I also take calcium, vitamin D, as well as C, B complex and fish oil capsules. If you want a food based calcium, you can order Seen Calcium Chews. Ingredients are: dates, milk minerals and protein, almonds and mushroom powder . Each chew contains 500mg calcium and 400IU Vitamin D with some phosphorus and potassium.
