Important information about statins that I’m going to ask my doc about

Posted by Barb @amberpep, Aug 10, 2020

Just a bit of information I discovered last week. One of the side effects of taking "simvistatin" is temporary memory loss. It is the only statin that has this effect. I am going to talk to my .doctor about stopping it, with his guidance of course. I have had some short lapses in memory .... forgetting part of my phone number, etc.

I also receive more superficial physical exams. On the other hand, many more blood tests and imaging, probably due to aging.

@clj9821 my cholesterol has been high most of my life and I can't tolerate statins, with psoriasis arthritis (creates muscle spasms) so I am on Repatha. Well tolerated and works wonders.

I’m so glad it works for you, as it does my siblings. I am concerned about the cost. Do you know if it falls under the 2,100.00 max out of pocket for Medicare? I’d be less concerned if it does.
Stay well! Cynthia

I suppose that’s why my primary care recently changed my prescription from simvistatin to atorvastatin.
