Rectal cancer early stage
I had a routine colonoscopy on January 22nd. I got the call on the 27th that a sessile poly was cancer, early stage, margined clear on labs. He sent me to another doctor at a larger hospital for consultation for resection to make sure it was all gotten, that surgery will be on the 19th.
During the wait the second doctor asked the first doctor to do an analysis ultrasound. During that procedure a 'node' was found, labs came back late Friday so I haven’t heard from the doctor yet. It’s confusing to me though.
The report states, Rectal Nodularity: Hyperplasticity/reactive changes with some associated prominent lymphoid aggregates, see comments. In the comments what confuses me is "though the differential includes a neurodocrine tumor". Is this something totally different, a different tumor?

Get the doctor to translate/interpret…radiologists’ reports are among the harder ones to understand—they give every detail—their job— but we need help sorting through the info to know what is of real actionable concern. Hope you get clarification and successful treatment.

2 Reactions@skeetla, I know this all sounds confusing and scary. And it is. Please know that colorectal cancer grows very slowly and it sounds like your suspicious polyps were found eary. That's good.
Neuroendocrine tumors may be treated differently. It will be important for your team to determine if you are dealing with a neuroendocrine tumor type or not.
How did your surgery on the 19th go? How are you doing?
