What causes sore nipples on a male in prostate cancer treatment?

@joecontheroad It's just one of the things that we have to rule out along the way surviving PCa and the litany of treatments side effects. I've had a rotten time with Orgovyx, compared with most others on this site. After only four months of taking it, that completed over two years ago, I still have a number of side effects, including hot flashes. I've seen many Drs. and my next on tap to see is an Endocrinologist as the Urologists have given up on me. Given the amount of breast cancer in my family, I needed a mammogram.

Yes my nipples have been sore for several months now and have been off Lupron for about a year now . Getting a blood test soon to ck my PSA and testosterone level , hopefully it goes away .

Yes, I’ve had trouble with the left nipple being sore after being off the Lupron for about a year now. Oncologist looked at it and doesn’t think it’s anything except the fluctuation in the hormones which is what I thought originally but offered to get mammogram if it continued to get worse, but it has actually gotten better. Breast Cancer in men is like one percent of the cases, but it does happen.

I no longer see my radiation oncologist, but I do see my medical oncologist every 6 months to coordinate my scheduled PSA and other bloodwork and to consult with her about the results.

Very similar situation. Nipple sensitivity and left breast enlargement started about 8 - 10 months after my second and last shot of Luprin. Right nipple sensitive first and 2 months or so later the left nipple. Currently the right nipple much less sensitive than the left, and also my left breast remains larger than my right.
My last Luprin shot was about 14 months ago.
After radiation almost 19 months ago my PSA is still low at 0.1, down from 6.9 when the cancer was discovered.
The nipple thing drives me a bit crazy particularly when I get bear hugs from my grandkids.
I saw one comment that once testosterone levels get up to and over 200 the problem should go away. In my case my testosterone has been a bit over 600 for a while now so that theory doesn’t work for everyone.
Sadly I’ve learned to live with it.

Thanks for your comments, you made me laugh about the hugs from your Grandchildren, like you I have one breast more sensitive than the other , I’m jealous over your 600 testosterone level , I’m guessing you’re younger than me and hopefully able to enjoy sex once again. I’m 80 but mentally 50 but my testosterone last checked was about 200 and I still cannot get an erection or feel anything despite trying everything. My only hope is if my T starts to get higher maybe there’s still hope. Thanks again,

@cha625eng I dont think its the testosterone itself. Men convert the testosterone into estradiol. Estradiol is important for libido, erections, bone health, and metabolism. It works with Testosterone. Mens normal estradiol should be less than 30. I supplement my testosterone with a compounded cream. I keep my levels between 550 and 650. I also must take an estrogen blocker. Without adding any more drugs I take an over the counter called DIM. (to low of T also changes the ratio)
Since estradiol is also important for men I try to keep mine around 25. Any fluctuations here make my nipples sore. I also will notice a puffiness around the nipple. 550 and above supplemented testosterone for me becomes difficult to keep my estradiol at 25. They both should be monitored.

@graybeard46 I am 74. I had nerve sparing removal at 68. My urologist absolutely refused to consider letting me supplement my testosterone. He said never .. My GP who also deals with many hormonal patients told me if I waited 3 years after surgery and I had a clean PSMA PET scan and undetectable PSA she would allow testosterone replacement with PSA checks every 3 months. I passed the test. I still do not have a full erection but Trimix fixes that. Plenty of desire . Now convincing my wife.

@tuckerp good luck with your wife , mine is 9 yrs younger than I but unfortunately she is secretly relieved that I can’t chase her around the house 3 times a week as I did before surgery 2 yrs ago , I’m still hoping for a miracle
