I wonder if all these side effects are due to the higher levels of THC in the weed and other cannabis products, I know that chronic use escalates pretty much like most drugs, you want the high or buzz but eventually you have to use more to maintain it. I never heard of these side effects years ago because the cannabis wasn't as potent, since it became legal it seems to keep going up in potency, just my thoughts.

Hi frouke,

I'm 71 now and up until a few years ago, had not smoked marijuana since the late 60s, early 70s. That weed was much milder and I could smoke a whole joint and get a nice high and very hungry!

My Dr. prescribed medical marijuana before it was legal in CA to treat anxiety. I was not ready for the dramatically increased THC. First of all, the weed from the 60s and 70s smelled great. These new strains smell foul, like a skunk.

Anyway I had to sit in my chair at home for hours before I could move. I had horrible dry mouth and paranoia.

So no thanks to this new weed (it's actually the bud that is used and contains the most THC).

And I'm pretty sure that in the 60s and 70s we were only smoking the leaves, another reason it was so mild and smelled so good.
