@calofmichigan I don’t see anything so I’m not sure what you are referencing as “below?” there is nothing below. (at least I don’t see anything below.)
@beachesanddreams I remembered reading it but it’s still not official. The clinical trials showed no weight gain in men or women or weight loss. last year I was injecting in my thigh most of the time and I didn’t have enough of a result. My physician assistant said it was fine, but after much research, I decided it wasn’t so I went back to injecting in my belly area only so I can have hopefully a better score next September when I test again. I do believe my belly has gotten fatter and more blubbery around the front. It’s unsightly and I hate it. I don’t know what to tell you. There’s no official information from any clinical testing so I am just going to cross my fingers that I can get rid of it later!
@loriesco
Yes, absolutely! Like you, "my belly has gotten fatter and more blubbery around the front" while I am on Tymlos.
When I started on Tymlos, I had such bad side effects from it that I paused the injections for a week after being on it for 5 weeks (at 8 clicks every day). Side effects were headache (sometimes severe), body aches, nausea, bloated belly pain, and exhaustion. The blubber went away 4 or 5 days after I stopped injecting and showed up again within a day or two when I resumed injecting (this time starting with 1 click and ramping up increasing dose by 1 click after each 3 day period).
Yes, one testimonial does not stand up to the results of scientific trials on thousands of people, but pretty clearly my belly blubber is related to the Tymlos injections. Interestingly, my weight has been fairly stable (within the accuracy of my bathroom scales anyway).
My side effects after the pause have been mild. I'll just have to see whether ramping up makes them more tolerable at the full 8 clicks. My doc (endo) says if I can't stay on full dose Tymlos, I should try another therapy (he mentioned Forteo).
@npoursafar No, it's gotten smaller. I can tell because my pants are a little looser. I'm almost certain it was water retention. My wife started on Tymlos three months ago, and she's noticed the same thing - and she's a runner, never gains a pound in all the time I've known her.

@cbusgma2017 the new clinical trials substantiate that you can LOWER the dosage and get the same outcome. your doctor should know that! Try to do a search and find the info on this. If you can't write me again in a week or two and I'll find it. The side effects 'magically" disappear after 2 months. I stopped, and then titrated up and it was true for me. 2 months and all of the things you described vanished! A year later I had to stop for 3 weeks. But I only had minimal side effects for 2 weeks and titrated up rapidly. Good luck! I'm staying on it no matter what! I think its downhill now to September!
@loriesco I’m not taking Tymlos, but I did speak to two of their pharmacists at Radius (the manufacturer), and they were both so helpful.
Perhaps a call to them might yield an answer or two as to the weight gain, how to prevent it, and how to deal with it once the injections are complete.
Tymlos has been around long enough now, I would think, that they are aware of it and may have a solution.
I also think it’s important for people to report it to the company as a side effect. That’s a personal decision, of course, but it can’t hurt.
I am wishing you well on all fronts as you continue to take it.
@beachesanddreams I called them. They won't discuss it. They have no information on weight gain or belly fat so that was that! yes, thank you for the "well wishes" and I hope everyone is successful!!! I'm on the downhill slide to September. Then the following 2 summers back to Reclast! (with infusion modifications!)

@cbusgma2017 oh geez, there is no edit button and I wanted to edit my comment. It may have been the Reclast dosage which could be modified down to a lower dosage with no change in the outcome! So sorry to possibly have been recalled wrong. (I may be right, but you'd better research it before you go back to the doctor and ask for something not exactly correct! So sorry!
@loriesco The only thing I’ll say about the Tymlos abdominal weight gain issue is that it is a documented side effect for men that is clearly listed on their website, yet many women report it too. It’s just not listed as a common side effect for women.

@loriesco I was feeling so weak on Tymlos, I took a 2 week break and then went to 6 clicks and stayed there. Yes about the belly blubber, but the lower dose did reduce the side effects otherwise. After 2 years in Tymlos, my lumbar spine improved from -3.6 to -3.1. Idk what it would have been had I been on a full dose those two years but then again I really couldn't handle the full dose.

I finished my two years of TYMLOS this past Thursday and it's crazy, but I have dropped 4# already. I put on about 8# so that quick, Im guessing it's all water?
Hopefully, I will lose the remaining weight, plus some.
I had blood work done about a week before my last dose and my protein and vitamin D levels were a little low. I am taking vitamin D3 2X a day and eating more yogurt and tofu to get those numbers back up.
I will get a dose of Reclast in three weeks, hoping that goes well with no side effects.
My doctor gave me no instructions to prepare for the first Reclast injection, nor did the infusion center when they scheduled the infusion ........ don't you just love that? So I got on Dr. Google and found that some people did have side effects after their first injection. Mostly flu like symptoms...fever, chills, body ache, etc. Dr. Google says to be very well hydrated and take TYLENOL.
I will follow his instructions the day before, the day of and the day after.
Thank you, Dr. G for the instructions and free office visit.
Anyway, I hope your muffin top disappears quickly too, when your treatment ends....I think it will. Maybe it's natures way to give our bellies a little more padding for those needles?
I'll let you know how the first dose of Reclast goes.

I’m sorry. I made another reply, probably in a different location. I apologize for the confusion.
