CT scan found tiny pulmonary nodules
Hi All, from last weeks CT scan, they found a few tiny nodules in my lungs. They are two small to biopsy and my MO said they are most likely benign and caused by inflammation. I did have a recent cold. But now after what I thought was a great report my anxiety has shot up again. Anybody have any experience with this?

Yes, this happened to my husband a few years ago, when his prostate cancer scan at Mayo Rochester showed a nodule in his lung. The doctors thought it was probably inflammation from breathing in dirt etc. while working in our yard daily. Because my husband had developed oropharynx cancer after his prostate cancer, they did a biopsy to rule out a third cancer just to be safe. It turned out that the nodule was benign and consistent with frequent yard work. He has had no further problems, and nothing else has shown up in his lungs on any scan since.

I can only imagine how scary those words sounded : (((.
Since your PSA is soooo low, it is the most probably benign finding. My sister had a scan couple of years back because she had serious thyroid problem and they found nodule on her lungs and told her that they are probably some left-over scar tissue formed after lung infection (she had pneumonia year before) and indeed they were benign.
Did you ever have chest x-ray before or the MRI of that area ? One of my friends had nodule found on his lungs and doctor were in a panic but he remembered that he had very old x-ray (like 10 years old) and asked his mom to send it and indeed - those nodule were there so it definitely excluded possibility of them being anything else but benign.
All in all, it is great chance that they are benign and I am sending my prayers and healing thoughts your way and please keep us posted < 3

4 ReactionsIn my case, my PSMA scan found a tumor in my right lower lung. 3 months after my RARP, I had my right lower lobe of my lung removed. That was 3 years ago....

1 Reaction@kenhorse And you had no other mets and a clean pathology posr RARP?
@topf prostate pathology was Gleason 7, completely contained with no lymph node involvement. Lung tumor was also contained ( stage 1a) and again no lymph node involvement. PSA has been undetectable since and lung has shown NED since as well. I am soooooo thankful for early detection of both.

Oh boy, that must have been scary indeed : ((. I am so glad that you are now feeling fine and that you have NED - that is fantastic : ))) !
PS: Did they confirm that lung nodule were indeed PC mets ? I hope they did detailed pathology examination of removed lung tissue.

1 ReactionLast summer I had PSMA PET scan because of concern for a local recurrence (I had a small nodule in my prostate bed and a PSA that rose above detection to 0.11).
The scan report listed all kinds of things that initially alarmed me besides the cancerous nodule in my prostate bed that had significant uptake. Most concerning were the “granulomas” in my lungs. From the report:
"CHEST: Mild nonspecific hilar activity is favored to be inflammatory given symmetry. No mediastinal or axillary adenopathy is identified by size criteria. Calcified mediastinal and right hilar lymph nodes and right upper lobe granuloma are compatible with chronic granulomatous disease.
Bilateral noncalcified pulmonary nodules are free of uptake, including an 8 mm medial right upper lobe nodule on image 18 and a 9 mm groundglass posterior left lower lobe nodule on image 45 series 4.”
I consulted with my PCP about all this. He was unconcerned and said that he has seen lots of these “granulomas" and nodules reported on scans, especially in seniors. No threat to my health. No need to see a pulmonologist, although he would have referred me if I wanted to go that route. I didn’t.
I hope that your nodules were just something similar.

5 Reactions@surftohealth88 Sorry I wasn't more clear previously! The tumor in my lung was not a PC mets; it was a primary lung adenocarcinoma that was an incidental find. I had no symptoms whatsoever from it.
