Pain in RLQ?
Hi there, new here, and wasn't 100% sure where to post this, so I apologize if this is not the right place. But, here's the problem:
For the last three days, I've had pain in waves in my rlq. Around my belly button feels tight, but I'm not sure if that is related. I've had spells of nausea, but no vomiting, and I've also lost my appetite a few times. I haven't had a fever, my temperature stays at its normal, about 95.8 to 96.2 degrees Fahrenheit. My abdomen is not tender to the touch, nor is it painful to move, so I know it cannot be appendicitis. However, pain meds are not helping. Any suggestions? It hurts and I want to save a trip to the doctor/ER if I can help it.

Let me elaborate on this a little. I am a female, 19 years old, standing at 5'5" and weighing in a about 200 lbs. I have a history of kidney stones, and do not believe this to be a kidney stone, due to the location and nature of the pain being different from previous stones.
Hello @mbucky19, and welcome to Connect. Thank you for sharing your concerns in detail with the other members regarding your stomach pain.
I would like to invite @stephieisabella and @joannem to this conversation as they have had experience with gallstones and gallbladder issues. Although we cannot give medical advice on Mayo Clinic Connect, we can offer experiences and a collective knowledge of our members, and your situation sounds like you may have some symptoms in common with these members.
@mbuck19, have you had any issues with your gallbladder in the past? Some of the symptoms you are describing match other members descriptions of potential gallstones. If your symptoms worsen it is always recommended that your seek help or opinion from a medical professional immediately. How severe is the pain when the waves hit?
I have not had issues with my gallbladder in the past, not as far as I know. The pain ranges from a 7 to 10 when the pain waves hit. Currently it is at a 10, and it hurts when I make certain movements, such as standing too fast, turning too fast, or coughing too hard.
You need to be more specific with where the pain is and how food affects you. I had my gallbladder removed the old fashioned way back in '91 and I never had the usual knife-like symptoms. MIne were more vise-like as if I were being squeezed around the whole middle front and back. I also would get severe bouts of diarrhea in the am and would have to rush off the bus to the nearest diner. I also ran low grade fever. Many years before that I would have strange pain during the night and have to get out of the bed and lie on the couch. They would subside within an hour or so. I never pursued the problem and it went away until about 10 years later. Don't food around.
