Hi, @nootherthan - I started a new discussion with your post talking about the itchy allergies you are experiencing on your elbow, upper arms and top of your foot. This is because your situation you described is different from the one you talked about with your mom and thus made sense for its own discussion.
I'd also like to tag others who've talked about similar instances for their input on what you are experiencing with the itching when you have stress or anxiety @siosal @ruthlessman @petere @missyalora52 @meo0624 @jenlemon @bruizersmom @jessduranttt. I'd also like you to meet @gingerw.
nootherthan - I wanted to see if you'd elaborate on the connection you're, I believe, referring to between eating and the skin itchiness you've had. Will you talk more about the skin itchiness you mentioned even when you do not eat the whole day?

1 ReactionI have dermatitis. That is the official diagnosis. I definitely see a connection between any stress and the itchiness of my skin. I think sugar and any alcohol have an impact. Thanks for asking.

1 Reaction@lisalucier hi there I’d like to find a support group for my psychogenic itching is what my doctor is calling it. It tends to happen when I’m “stressed” but it’s also just when I’m over stimulated but it’s been going on for over 10 years. I’ve seem dermatologists, allergen it’s and gotten an MRI and nothing has helped until I tried Lexapro but it’s been flaring up again pretty bad lately. If I can describe it is this tingling sensation that’s also an itch that I must touch in order for it to go away, once it goes away it usually goes to another spot and continues. I stopped scratching and now touch or massage which seems to help I’ve also used cold packs and ice cubes but it’s really de habilitating and I just want hope and relief I also want to hear from others that have experienced this because I have yet to meet anyone that suffers from this.
@stefaniv88
One suggestion is to reduce the temp of your showers to not irritate it more.
You have met one now.
What works for me is a little BenGay.
Sometimes the itch moves a couple of times before it gives up but then it stops for the night.
@stefaniv88 so sorry to hear you are struggling with this. It sounds really tough. Do you see a therapist? It sounds like the physical symptoms are worse with stress. I wonder if a therapist could help you interrupt the cycle with cognitive techniques. There are cognitive strategies to deal with chronic pain which it sounds like this could be a variant of that because it is really uncomfortable.
I have had stress hives in the past but it’s not a chronic thing for me. Uncomfortable for sure. The only thing that helps me is hydrocortisone cream plus loose fitting cotton clothing.
Wishing you the best and I hope you feel better soon.
