I had it for two years, had it removed in march 2025. I wasn't aware it was off for three weeks, as I turned it off when in Europe and exiting through two Xray machines for screening. When I discovered it was off, I turned it back on for another 2-3 weeks, and there was no difference.
My neurosurgeon said it works for 50% of the population. He told me I gave it more than "a college try".
I had the Abbot stimulator implanted in December. I had some success with the trial and hoped it would also help once the permanent one was in. I had it done for 2 different issues, one was SFN and the other was an issue with pain radiating into my leg from my spine (similar to sciatica but a different nerve).
So far I have not had much success at all. The reps at Abbott are great and I’m working through the various programs to try to find the magic one that helps. I do better when it’s set at lower settings and increased very gradually. But there’s no significant relief yet.
I’m considering it. Getting ready to do a knee implant trial and if all goes well will try the spinal implant. Interested in hearing from others who have had it done, too.,

Good luck! It is a pretty lengthy process. In my case I needed MRIs of my thoracic, cervical and lumbar spines, and everyone must have a consultation with a psychiatrist. That was a surprise to me but I think they mostly want you to be prepared in case it doesn't work for you. The one I saw actually was super helpful in answering questions and providing information about what to expect. I really hope it works for you!

Yes I have had one for 6 years. Very little help.
