I would take him to the ER; no one should put up with such intense pain. Hopefully they can do a CT.

His GP said his PSA levels are fine and to take paracetamol and ibuprofen 3-4tmes a day and now he fels like hes been fobbed off and is losing faith in recieving help. Whats worse is i c hm believe its all in his head and over thinking things. I cnt have that so i really need to find somewhere or smeone who cld throw ideas my way to assist him as hes giving up. This angers me but upsetting. Thanku fraaseo for your reply. Gives me strength to fight for him. No he shldnt go thru this kind of pain.

Sorry to hear this is happening. I most certainly would not take this lightly, and would get it checked out asap.

It may not be related at all to the prostate cancer. I’m just thinking out loud about other possible sources of the groin pain. Inguinal hernia is one that comes to mind (I’ve been there, it can be pass out level pain). Another possibility is a bladder spasm (been there with that after a prostate biopsy—excruciating). A swollen prostate can cause pain in the pelvic area too.

I would go to the ER if it is really bad. No one should be stranded with that kind of pain.

Best wishes to the both of you.

You should definitely go back to your radiation oncologist and have them address it. Radiation has been known, at times. to cause nerve damage in that area. If they do not address it, do a telehealth with a center of excellence and get another opinion.

@veronicamiller75 A Urologist could be his best bet. ‘Groin pain’ can be anything from the inguinal area down to the testicles. Only a urologist will know how to diagnose this properly.
Sounds like you are in the UK, so I don’t know how long it might take to get an appt.

I started having pain too 14 months after radiation treatments I have an appointment with my oncologist in one week, I read it has to do with the testicle, will probably do CT scan to see if there are cancer cells spreading. I never was given hormones which I read could help.

Around the same time after all my radiation I had similar pain ended up in the ER . I had an infection in my bladder , turns out it was from the radiation. Went to urology and I have scar tissue.

Two weeks after my proctectomy I had an unbelievable pain in my lower left side. I iced it all summer every time it had these surges in pain and burned really bad. Later summer I had it checked out because it wasn't getting better and it was an inguinal hernia. I had that repaired 3 months after my hip replacement. It's been a great year!

@veronicamiller75, how is your friend doing? Did he follow up with his doctor about the pain?
