Reclast side effects 🙁

roxanne1950, itching is a common allergic reaction to Reclast and may resolve with allergy medication. If the itching is accompanied by swelling especially of the throat, be cautious enough to call your doctor. If you have trouble breathing or swallowing don't wait. Anaphylaxis can occur in days following a reclast injection though this is quite rare.

@roxanne1950 I had itchy legs from calves to ankles. My rheumatologist wasn't familiar with it. I went to my dermatologist & he checked the PDR & reported that itching legs were reported 11% of the time. It is not a rash. The Reclast inflamed the capillaries & caused petechia. If you look carefully at the skin, they look like tiny bruises & they itch like crazy. He had me use a mild corticosteroid cream on them. He also had diagnosed me with Polymyalgia rheumatica 2 years prior when 2 doctors had missed it. He retired recently & boy do his patients miss him. Good luck to you.

@vagirl57 Thank you for reaching out. That is interesting, Sounds like a wonderful doctor. Can you tell me what PDR stands for. Sorry I'm very new here so wasn't sure. My itching is on the upper torso but I would like to talk to my dermatologist about this. I do feel like there are some tiny things on my upper chest above my breasts and below.

@gently that is a very interesting article I am still resisting all drugs but my sister in law has had two Reclast injections (infusions? ) and loathes the after effects. Interestingly, my cousin's best friend, married to an orthopedic surgeon, only had one shot, maybe the guy also knew about the less-is-more theory.

Here is what's most unsettling about your article - these words, I've cut and pasted: "declining rates of development of new therapies for osteoporosis." What, the treatments we have now - w jaw rotting, thigh bones cracking, and just generally feeling terrible - are all so perfect we don't have to develop more? What is wrong with the medical community that they think the choice of evils they offer us is the best they can do.? We should have some mass demonstration somewhere.

@babby I have had blood pressure problems since I got the infusion in November of 2025 and 4 days later the headaches started and they continued until I decided finally to take my blood pressure Thanksgiving day only to find my pressure was 226/120 or something crazy like that but it was well over 200. Ended up in the emergency room 3xs that weekend with it ending with me staying for 2 nights. I am still battling this blood pressure issue and we have tried a number of different meds and combos. I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and if they ever got it resolved? I am currently taking 3 different blood pressure meds because it get so high.

I had reclast infusion in November of 2025. I will never take it again. 3 days after I had headaches and they got worse by the time we got to thanksgiving my blood pressure was over 220 and i was in and out of the hospital the entire weekend. To this day I am still battling blood pressure issues. I have never had blood pressure issues and I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem with Reclast infusion???

@roxanne1950 My first infusion was 5 years ago. I actually had a light rash that came out about 2-3 weeks later. Wasn't itchy. Did get the second infusion following year, no rash. I had other side effects, first year the worst(fatigue , little dizzy, very constipated) for about 4 weeks. each successive infusion, symptoms lessened greatly, maybe lasting 2 weeks then one week and 3-4 days for the 4th infusion. I knew to be aware of added intake of fiber and water for the constipation. My Endo told me SE's decrease with each successive infusion. (Anyway, I'm now on Forteo generic because my spine worsened. Side effects of that is another story, but I've hung in there with the worst of those lessening and some persisting. April makes 1 year. )
