Reclast side effects 🙁
I had terrible side effects from a Reclast infusion of 5mg.
I’m scheduled for my yearly check up with my doctor in December. I do not want to take Reclast again.
Is there anything else out there that does NOT have the same ingredients as Reclast?

catv, yes. Forteo, Tymlos, Evenity and Prolia, in my order of preference. The gentleman who ran the clinical trials is a bone expert. He says he almost never prescribes the second year of Reclast for his patients because the single injection is good for two years. You might ask your physician for this free year. I wouldn't want to try it without bone markers though.

4 ReactionsReclast infusions have not worked for me. Fractured 3 ribs on my left side, 3 years ago, and 2 on my right side a couple of months ago. I give up.

1 ReactionI also had severe side effects. My doctor had to call in steriods and I feel that after more than 18 months I'm having side effects. Anyhoo, my endocrinologist when I went back said she would not give me Reclast but prolia. I said no as I am a breast cancer survivor and Reclast has shown that it helps a bit for reoccurance and Prolia actually might be bad for reoccurance. So long story short, I'm seeing a PT and changing my lifestyle. I recently found out that these drugs are not always successful. So, I wish someone would give us real facts!

2 Reactions@gently I never heard that Reclast is good for two years?
This study is very enlightening as they followed a single dose of ReClast for 10 years. It sure seems tome that yearly may be a gross overkill,
They also looked at 1, 2.5 and 5 mg doses.

4 ReactionsBoth of my docs (rheumatologists) have told me that the benefits of Reclast can remain effective for two years. After an infusion last year, my doc told me he would wait for my numbers/DEXA in January before another annual dose.
Happy Fall! Cheers!

4 Reactions@slapshotmary, hi. And every two years may not be right for you. I have it from the fellow who ran the clinical trials that he "almost never" prescribes Reclast for the second year. He looks at bone markers and dexa to make the determination. It may depend upon how much bone you've lost.
There is this from 2015 https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4959627/

2 ReactionsI have my suspicions about my having reoccurring headaches since I took that infusion April of 2025. I still get one at least weekly. They wanted a brain scan at ER in case I had brain tumor which was ridiculous. My blood pressure 173/93. So my PC started me on 25 mg of blood pressure med. it seems to have helped. My blood pressure has been from 110 to 120 on top and in 60’s on bottom. But I still headaches so I’m perplexed I’ve never had headaches. I’m just inquiring has anyone had long term off n on headaches from Reclast? Also, I developed a Taylor Buinionette with the pad under baby toe swollen with bursitis. Podiatrist did MRI with contrast. It’s just odd because I’ve never had problems with feet and we have 170 plus bones in feet. Anyone else have issues? Tingling or numbness?
