I started ADT on Eligard and it took about a month for the hot flashes to start. With Eligard you get about a 2 week hormone surge before testosterone drops, we all respond differently, but I would guess 2 or 3 weeks before the hot flashes. I moved from Eligard to Firmagon after 6 months. Hot flashes continued, a little different but no less frequent. Urologist prescribed Megace for the hot flashes and it works great.

That two week surge was due to your doctor’s ignorance. Doctors that know what to do, give you two weeks of Biclutamide Before you start taking Eligard. That way you don’t get that testosterone flare.

I would start to wonder what other mistakes your doctor’s going to make. He doesn’t appear know what he’s doing with some advanced prostate cancer treatments. Once you have to be on ADT, you really have to give up on a urologist.
