Vulvar lichen sclerosis biopsy scheduled--many questions

Posted by ronag @ronag, Nov 20, 2025

Six months ago my ob/gyn said everything looked great--no signs of disease. I was in remission. Still, I continued my clobetasol twice a week, estrogen cream twice a week, and daily barrier cream and emu oil. However, yesterday I was informed I need a biopsy for a suspicious area. I'm frightened and would love to hear from people who have gone through a biopsy, how they prepared for it, and how they cared for the area from which the biopsy was taken after the fact. On line I've seen contradictory statements as to whether to continue using the clobetasol during the weeks leading up to the biopsy. What did your doctors recommend? Mine is a woman of few words. I was given an appointment for the biopsy and sent on my way.
Thank you all for your answers and for metaphorically holding my hand at this difficult time.

I had a biopsy to dx lichen scleroses. The biopsy was painful after numbing went away for a day or two felt like an aching pain. When gyn was numbing the area I felt a pinch that hurt but just for a little bit then the numbing effect took over I had some very slight bleeding from the area for few hours. I took warm showers and use Aquaphor ointment for relief .

Thanks for answering. So after a few days you were back to normal? Did you start treatment for the Lichen Sclerosis immediately after the biopsy?

I was diagnosed with LS. I just had a biopsy 5 days ago. I am still sore. Wondering what to do to relieve the pain. She said the ulcer was deep. Waiting for results😬
Is this normal?

my sister got me taking D-mannose for my bladder for e-coli and. it cured my bladder issues and smell and also my lichen issues. .. Miracle drug. I'll never stop taking it ever again. It just fixed everything after all these years of suffering.

Walmart had it and she got it at Sprouts. Her bladder cancer doctor started her on it. It is amazing. The D-mannose. I can't stop talking about it. Where has this stuff been all my life? It worked immediately. The burning stopped within 2 days after a lifetime of suffering It was a miracle. . No more burning urethra or vaginal opening or anything else.
