How soon after hysterectomy did you start chemo?
My doctor's coordinator said last week at my visit that she'd send me a telemedicine request for an education session prior to chemo. It will be a week tomorrow and I haven't heard from her. My hysterectomy was a month ago this coming Friday. My daughter - who has a solid biotech background- is questioning the wait and thinks I should call twice a day every day until they schedule that call and give me a chemo schedule. Opinions? Experience?

my started 6 weeks after. This is to allow for healing. Six weeks is optimal, I was told, but the time it take to get to chemo is also based on how quickly the team can be mustered.

1 ReactionI’m from Sydney, Australia. I started chemotherapy one week after my radical hysterectomy. My oncologist wanted to start as soon as possible. That was 16 years ago in August 2010.
I have metastatic HGS ovarian cancer and have started my ninth treatment regimen today. Topotecan is the next drug of choice. This time it’s an infusion for 3 consecutive days and then 18 days break.
I visited an ophthalmologist yesterday and he found that I have a swollen optic nerve in my right eye. Never a dull moment! It could be the sarcoidosis which was discovered in my chest in May ’25. I have to do more scans and blood tests, along with the chemo! Watch this space …

Yes, I feel like I have to prod to get some things scheduled and it’s not a good feeling. Then another division will call immediately and schedule.

I’m hoping you have a strong support system to get you through this latest setback. Sending you a virtual rose from my garden and hope it brings a smile.

1 ReactionThat’s odd. I would question that also. I had chemo three weeks after my surgery. I think the sooner the better.

3 ReactionsThanks. After multiple (!!!) calls I was finally scheduled for my chemo. Love my doc and his nurse but the support staff was not responsive. Pushed by my daughter, I adopted the squeaky wheel behavior and got all my dates.
