I have significant experience with Oral and Maxillofacial in Rochester. They arrange a schedule for you along with radiology, dental, and several other departments as required for your specific needs. This way when you arrive, your visit will be short because all of the services will be lined up in a schedule.
Contrast this care to what is standard at most other clinics where the patient gets an initial look, then an appointment in a week or so for radiology, then come back again for the next thing, and on and on for several months. Mayo is setting up your schedule with an initial wait to get the ducks lined up followed by several appointments within a day or three. This is all normally followed by the patient saying “Wow.”
My annual check, which usually involves three or four specialists, begins with Oral Max contacting me three months prior with a date. If that date doesn’t work for me, they can take ten days sometimes to get an adjusted schedule back to me.
Patients patient.

@hrhwilliam Thank you for this information!! It makes so much more sense as to how they do things and the wait times etc. I appreciate it so much!! I was just scheduled for my consult yesterday actually! I only need to wait a month for it, so not too bad. I'm at an advantage as I am local-ish to Rochester. Just a few hours drive time, so nothing major. Easily able to go there and home in the same day.
